I'd look at anything nylon in the linkage.. heat / age can definitely dry these up.. make brittle.

Shouldn't you have checked the level of the ground using the spirit level perpendicular to the the car?

Not sure there is a premium for the tyres is there? Just less choice? (Perhaps that forces you to pay a premium??)
