Is there anything other than the spring that can affect ride height?
I've got my car booked in next Tues as it's developed a slight vibration through the steering wheel sometimes when steering and braking. The steering is very vague and the car also tramlines a lot more than it should pulling both to the right and the left as I drive along.
I thought maybe there could be a bush or a balljoint gone but I'm sure the offside front is slightly lower than the nearside front. I've had a quick look at the spring and it seems okay. Does anyone have any ideas? Just curious to get some info before it goes in. Here's a couple of pics, what do you think?
It doesn't look like much of a difference in the pics but I asked my dad to take a look to see what he thought he immediately agreed there was a difference as well. On the offside, the tyre looks about an inch closer to the wheel arch (where it meets the bumper) than on the nearside.
Does anyone have any idea what may be broke |

It is not unusual to have a bit of a lean, the fuel tank empties to the right, if you have less than 1/2 tank it will all be on the right side of the tank this weighs the car down.
My E36 leans to the right a little, new rear springs 6 months ago. Mine is set up to perfection on the KDS machine and it still tram lines quite badly. I have 225/45 17 tyres and I have found that this is fairly standard on other E36s I have driven with similar sized tyres. |

I have the same size tyres mate. The tramlining is definitely worse than it used to be. Something has changed within the last few weeks, it's pretty bad and the vibration through the wheel when steering started at about the same time. There's definitely something wrong, it's just finding out what it is. I know what you mean about the lean as well, I've noticed before that the rear sits lower on the offside than it does on the nearside but I'm sure the front has dropped recently
My front tyres are heavily worn (though still legal) I suppose that could explain the tramlining |

| Could be a worn bush then, the shock leak is not too bad, mine are worse, it seems that it is normal to have a little dampness on BM shocks. |

The worn tyres will show up any flaw in the rest of the steering components and will also make tramlining worse, even if everything else is fine. If you fit new tyres, the deep treads will flex a little as it crosses small undulations in the tarmac.
Good luck and I hope it is not to expensive. |
