I,ve just come back from my local stealer. They had two e92 verts and a couple of coupes.
The word sick springs to mind. And I dont mean sick as in the same vein, that a hoody would use.
The dash, lights, hood, rear, infact the whole car looks awful. What have they done!!!!
Me and my BMW love affair are over until they come out with some new designs.
What I did notice across the road were the Audis. My my the RS4 vert is something the new M3 should aspire too.
BMW are losing it when compared to Audi. What happened to Motorsport !!!!
I,m now in the market for a (987) Boxster S or new TT Roadster. Until BMW have a serious rethink about design and pricing. |

WTF is with all the Audi love on here recently?
I admit the new 3 series salon is a bit of an ugly mofo, not helped by the rear lights. But it does grow on you. The new coupe is beautiful once you actually bother to look at it properly.
As for the new M3? Well, it certainly looks the part although I have to admit, bonnet bulge is a bit cack.
When you say loosing it to Audi.....can you quantify? The new M3 will outsell any RS4 any day of the week. With RWD instead of the gay heldex or other 4WD stuff, and a new lighter engine which is even further rearward in the engine bay (unlike the Audi) the M3 will be a far superior drive as well no doubt.
Round a track? Well, neither is suited for that 'out of the box'. Both are posing machines as they have been since the year dot (E30 M3 and original Audi Quattro aside). They will both be suitably high specced and fast enough to make 99.9999% of other cars look silly.
So, exactly which part has BMW got wrong here? Great drivers car, will sell like hot cakes, critics will love it, poorer peeps will buy 316i saloons with M3 badges on. Everyones happy? |

Have to agree the E90 looks lame and its been on the streets long enough now. E90 Touring is ok-ish i suppose.
I'm still a BMW man and will probably get an E60 (5 series) next.
That said, i intend to run the E46 for many years.
Either way, i wouldn't change for a Boxter or TT but then again, i'm not a hairdresser, flight steward or work in PR |

Well, I have got both....
The E46 is more rewarding to drive, and A4 is less so.
However, the A4 is much more refined a drive then the E46.
The A4 is a 2.0 S-Line 170 TDi (2007)
I have also driven both the E46 M3 Convertible and the new RS4 Saloon. BMW will have to bring something special out of the hat to compete. Anybody who thinks Quattro is a toy is in denial, it is a serious piece of kit that puts the power down very very well. |

I have always been an M3 fan. I love M-Sport.
But they have lost the plot again. BMW always do wacky things every other range.
eg.
(e36) 323,328
(e36) M3 Saloon
They got everything right with the E46
And now we have the new 335!!! and dismal looking M3.
I hate to say it but BMW are years behind a RS4 or TT. |

Another great comment. But in WHAT are they years behind. I'm happy to agree or disagree but if it's not quantified the statement is meaningless. Some might say that Audi's 'play it safe' designs with no real change in emphasis are 'years behind' BMWs fresh new look? I'm not saying I agree with that but you see my point? |

I to, don't like the look of the new 3 series and could not bring myself to part with 35K of my hard earnt to buy a 335. Where the BMW wins hands down over any Audi is the pure fun of driving one hard and it does not have to be an M3.
I now drive a Mazda MPS which is quicker than the 330d in theory at least, but it does not enter into the same league for driver entertainment. BMWs have a wonderful balance and even with a lame steering feel, you still feel in total control and don't get all the twitchy cack that FWD/4WD cars give you through the wheel. |

Exactly what I think too!
The new M3 is probably going to be more fun and more of a drivers car compared to any Audi, mainly due to the perfect weight distribution and the rear wheel drivetain which is now to perfection!
BMW for me any day.... I am actually passionate about Bavarian Motor Works!!! |

Audi's are cack plain and simple. I have owned several and on the plus side they are better put together than a BMW or Mercedes, but they are poor to drive, understeer all the time (quattro or not - even the S4) as the engine feels like it is in front of the headlights. That is why I understand from the motoring press they have tried to mount the engine further back in the A5 (like a BMW) to try and get the handling right. Don't get me started on the ride in Audis - what ride - its like solid suspension, but then they roll, pitch and dive like a ship when you throw em about. BMW's handle and ride very well - so well they were brave enough to try (and failed) with RFT's.
The E92 (that the 3 coupe?) is a VERY good looking car, the A5 flatters it by trying to look like it. The new RS4 is very good - no dispute - but that is 1 car!
Driven base E90's and they are streets ahead of the same E46 - the E46 is still ahead of the A4 - nuff said!
Just my opinion - and I loved Audi's for years until some git let me drive his BMW and now I'm addicted. The E60, unless a Sport, is ugly. The E90 is better looking and IMHO is a better drive too.
Anyone suffering Audi love, just drive an Audi A6 down a favourite lane - and be terrified at the understeer on the sharp bends..... BMW's just bite at the front and go.
I was being harsh at the start. Audi's aren't cack, they make wonderful motorway cars, and GREAT cars for the wife. Just don't let her drive your BMW (whatever age) as you won't get it back!
BMW's rule - Sermon over! |

I love the whole current BMW line up with the exception of the X3 which is totally pointless.
I do love the new S line Audi's and the new A5/S5 are stunning to look at. Shame about the drive. Quatro's sound fun though! |

i think the E90 is a great looking car, but as with all cars they all look a bit standard unless they wear a nice set of wheels and a tasteful suit!!
E92 is a looker i'm afraid especialy the 335i sport.
Vert?? not sure yet as i've not seen one in the flesh but i'm damn sure i will like it anyway |

BMW everytime...purely for driving dynamics...it is a shame that enthusiasts now have to correct the OE BMW ride/handling balance for B road bashing...E46 'sport' was the perfect setup.
I saw a few E90 verts on my m'way run today. Don't look too bad at all. |

Totally agree about the E90. Its got fat, frumpy and darn ugly with too many creases in it.

You saw a few?? What motorway were you driving on?
I love the whole BMW range, but only in sport trim. But X3 is still a load of rubbish.
My mates got an Audi A4 Tdi ('53), and all he's had is complete trouble regarding all the mechanics. Looks better inside though compared to my E46, but thats about it. |

BMW or Audi is a debate which will last for a long time from now on, with both getting the upper hand some time or other.
Just like CPU chips really. AMD were "miles ahead" of Intel for years but Intel now have the upper hand. Both are great chips and are good in there own way for different things.
The debate between BMW or Audi is the same. The E39 was IMO and a lot of peoples THE BEST CAR EVER MADE, which is why im after the 530i/540i as we speak. Audi now have the better looking range IMO but BMW will always have the best driving range.
